SUMMER RIDE BUT NOT SUMMER SLIDE

July 20, 2022

On July 20, 2022, some of Newton’s students enjoyed a gathering at Bloor – Yonge Toronto Reference Library for a reading session. This library is Canada’s most prominent public reference library with an extensive collection of books, manuscripts, microfilms, and other items. Students did some research as part of their summer English class.

NIC believes that academic work should be fun and meaningful. Fun should be the priority, but that doesn’t mean students should avoid academic reinforcement entirely. Students should carve out some time for literacy and math, making both a regular part of their daily routine to prevent the summer slide.
